Unlike cotton, it requires very little acreage to grow, and doesn’t need to go through any chemical processes, such as bleaching, during or after production. It has a high production level and self replenishes nutrients in the soul making it a true sustainable crop. The jute plant absorbs carbon dioxide and releases oxygen at a rate several times higher than most trees. One hectare of jute plants can absorb around 15 tons of carbon dioxide and release 11 tons of oxygen during an average jute season. This makes it an ideal, sustainable material.
